Purple Chisos is inspired by the unexpected mountain range in southern Texas in Big Bend National Park.  The Chisos Mountains impressively rise up out of the south Texas desert.  It was one of the last things I expected when exploring the area.

I painted the colors to be more emotive and ones that I thought just worked for the scene rather than what was actually there.  I actually based this painting off of a black and white photo I took, which gave me even more freedom to express what I wanted to with the colors.
