“Teton Dawn” is part of my Uncovered series and was inspired by a quiet, breathtaking morning in Grand Teton National Park. It was late spring, and I was on vacation with my family when I decided to wake up at 5 a.m. to catch the first light of day. As the sun began to rise, the sky bloomed with soft pinks, casting a gentle glow over the peaks. Everything was still—the kind of stillness that feels sacred, especially in a National Park. That moment, standing there in the crisp air with the mountains waking up around me, is something I’ll never forget. This painting is my way of holding onto that beauty and sharing the peace it brought me.

In my Uncovered series, I intentionally leave parts of the birch panel exposed—it’s not just a design choice, but a metaphor. To me, it represents the courage it takes to be open and honest about what we’re going through. Life isn’t always easy, and sometimes showing our raw, unpolished selves can feel vulnerable. But I believe that in those exposed places, we find connection, understanding, and healing. When we allow ourselves to be seen by those we trust, we create space for shared stories, support, and growth.
