“Tidal Reflections” is part of my Uncovered series and was inspired by a photo I took years ago at Cannon Beach in Oregon while on a memorable family vacation. Haystack Rock has always drawn me in, but what really stuck with me were the reflections in the tidal waters—especially at high tide. Cannon Beach is so wide and flat that the sky practically paints itself across the sand. I remember standing there, just taking it all in, feeling a kind of calm and clarity. That’s the feeling I wanted to capture in this piece—the quiet beauty of a moment when everything feels at peace.

In my Uncovered series, I intentionally leave parts of the birch panel exposed—it’s not just a design choice, but a metaphor. To me, it represents the courage it takes to be open and honest about what we’re going through. Life isn’t always easy, and sometimes showing our raw, unpolished selves can feel vulnerable. But I believe that in those exposed places, we find connection, understanding, and healing. When we allow ourselves to be seen by those we trust, we create space for shared stories, support, and growth.
